Fixed Diameter Hole Opener and cutter
Fixed Diameter Hole Opener
The Fixed Diameter Hole Opener is made of tough heat treated alloy steel for maximum strength. Cutter arms, equipped with replaceable cutter, are hardfaced and welded on body. Cutters are available in three types: type SM for soft to medium formation, type MH for medium to hard formation and type XH for hard formation. The hole openers have three or six jet tubes with replaceable nozzles, so that jet streams quickly clean the enlarged hole.

The fixed-diameter hole opener is designed for use in soft clays and shales to medium-hard shales and limestones and is particularly effective in sticky formations where balling problems are encountered. Three jets with replaceable nozzles continuously clean the tool’s cutting structure, clearing debris buildup and increasing penetration.
Versatile and robust
A range of milled tooth and tungsten carbide insert (TCI) cutting structures are available for a variety of formation conditions. The hole opener is available in sizes 6 1/4 to 42 in, with hand-tool demountable cutters that are easily replaced on the rig floor. Tools for hole sizes of 36 in or more are designed with four arms and cutters. The robust design and construction enable drilling of longer intervals. |
